Trust the process…
The phrase is a sports colloquialism made famous by NBA’s Philadelphia 76er and Twitter star Joel Embiid. You can read about it here if you're interested in such things. For the purposes of my #100daysofartforsongs I'm in need of my own process to follow and so here is the plan:
My goal is to create a series of modern art collage and mixed media pieces based on the lyrics and poetry of 12 songs by Calvin Rezen, aka @ThesaurusRextunes
I will spend time each day for 100 days creating art inspired by the lyrics, and loosely structured as one song/week for 12 weeks. Several pieces of art may be made for each song, exploring different ideas evoked by the lyrics as well as different palettes and mediums.
The first few days before (now) and after the art making will be for defining the goal and process, and designing the book itself for the purposes of potential publication. The song lyrics will be included in the book as part of the design presented as poetry.
Regarding posting, accountability for my project, I pledge to post an update comment on the Facebook group #the100daysproject on each day’s thread. I realize that this will not always include visual representation of my work which may be in progress, or simply not ready to share. Additionally, I plan to post a short progress blog entry here on these pages as I make progress. This will likely be only a couple of times a week, not every day, because it is tedious to both both write and read. Rather, I'll make blog posts when I start and finish a new song.
I will include the full lyrics of each song along with some thoughts and of course the art work which it inspires. Links to many of the audio and video files of the songs are posted in Day 2/100 Of this blog.
